okays. i have lots to say today. oh btw, did anyone watch 'i am sam' yday? its a really really good movie. damn touching. its abt this mentally retarded man, called sam, fighting for custody of his 7-year-old daughter, and in the process teaches his cold-hearted lawyer the value of love and family. i'm not gonna try and describe the movie and how nice it is cos i think my limited vocab is gonna spoil it. so yeah. go watch the show, you wont regret it. and don't forget to bring tissue too.anyw, i just got back from lunch with my relatives from KL. hm, where should i start. okays. i met my 2nd uncle from msia, his wife and his 3 daughters. another aunty and her daughter, both locals, came as well. these are the kind of relatives you see only at weddings and chinese new year. we sat according to age today, so the adults took one table and the kids another. let's talk abt the adults first. it was one big bragging session over at their table. 'oh my daughter's taking her a levels this year' .. 'oh my daughter's gonna apply for a SCHOLARSHIP' .. 'and she's going to go to UK to study' .. 'oh you know what, my daughter's school asked her to come back to teach english after she graduates' .. '$60 a day leh, better than the pay at macs.' well done. i think my mom won hands down.
anyw, at the kids side. it was just silence thru out lunch. but once we all finished our food, we had no choice but to start talking. let me tell you about this irritating cousin of mine.
my sis: so you're taking o levels next year right? which jc are you planning to go to?
IC: yup. oh, most probably HWA CHONG
my sis: oh, really. why don't you consider ac?
IC: hm. what is acjc's cut off this year?
my sis: oh about 8 or 9 pts i think.
IC: oh, so easy to get in ah..
(oh btw, IC stands for irritating cousin, i don't even know her name)
she is damn irritating. i almost burst out laughing when she said she wants to go to hwa chong. then we asked her why she doesn't want to try for raffles. and she said 'oh cos rj looks at cca records, so its harder to get in.' then i'm like thinking isn't it easier since you can use cca points. but then i soon realised what she meant. its harder for her cos she's in the LIBRARY. confirm no representation points alrdy. since there's no like 'annual shelving competition' or 'who wants to be the best librarian.' okay that's rather mean of me. but still, you should've seen that smirk on her face. i think she doesn't know my sis got 7pts for Os along with a string of distinctions. i don't think she would've said all that crap if she knew. anyw, now you know why i really hate these family gatherings.
