founder's day.

i just got back from the stupid founder's day dinner. i feel very sorry for myself. i kinda just threw away $50. i should've known when i saw the flimsy yellow ticket junlong passed to me the other day. anyw, the service was long and boring, and the poor audio system in the hall just made us more restless since we couldn't hear a word. we were so glad when it was over and the so called 'feast' began cos we were all damn hungry by then. i heard from my juniors that the food was pretty good and we were gonna have stuff like lobster, butter prawns and ham and cheese for dinner. so after hearing that, i went down to the PARADE SQUARE with images of lobsters and butter prawns in my mind. also, i was looking forward to the GARDEN-SETTING that i would be having my dinner in. but, i was terribly disappointed. tho, i sorta anticipated it, but i honestly thought they'd do better than that.

let's talk about the food first. after finding my seat and putting my bag down, i hurried to the buffet counter to grab some food since there was no queue. but i soon realised why there was no queue. there was mushroom soup, chicken with ham stuffed into it, butter prawns, salad and dessert. the food didn't look the least bit appetising. looked more like leftovers to me. but, considering i paid $50 for this dinner, i turned on my kiasu singaporean mentality to the max and started loading food on to my plate and grabbed a glass of fruit punch on my way back to my seat. the first thing i tasted was the mushroom soup. it sux. it was damn watery and the mushroom bits were the size of sesame seeds lar. then i tried the chicken. it was COLD. like how yux is that. so i decided to try the butter prawns instead. you know butter prawns are supposed to be crispy with the very nice butter smell. well, the one on my plate was soggy and had absolutely no aroma to speak of. so you can imagine how well it must have tasted. then, i tried the salad. well, it was pretty okay, you can't really screw up a salad anyw. i kinda gave up on the main dishes and turned to the dessert section after 10mins. at the dessert section, i found blueberry cheescake, some cake with kiwi on it, chocolate fondue with strawberries and cream puffs. they all looked pretty promising i must say, so i happily took one of everything and went back to my seat. i tried the blueberry cheesecake first. i think right, either it's not a cheesecake or they screwed it up big time. it tasted more like blueberry biscuit lar. the so called 'cheesecake' was so hard it could attain biscuit status. the cake with kiwi was similar to that also! even tho they both looked really good. when i tried to dip the strawberry into the chocolate, i realised i couldn't, because the chocolate wasn't melted, so can't dip anything into it. so much for chocolate fondue. so all i'm left with is cream puff. i personally don't like cream puffs all that much, but this one was really good. probably the best cream puff i've ever had. so, after my whole review of the dishes, you will realise that all i ate tonight was cream puff and salad. oh wait i forgot to talk about the 'fruit punch'. it was bloody diluted lar, more like orange colour water. ok so that's all for the food part.

after 20mins, i'd alrdy tried everything and concluded that the food was horrible. so i began my review of the surroundings and atmosphere. guess what, the only semblance of a garden was the ridiculously ugly pot of fake plants on every table, plus some real petals scattered arnd. i knew it. you think put pots of fake plants everywhere means garden-setting already meh? at least put some bougainvillas right, don't even have any real plants arnd. just when i was telling the whole table how terrible this dinner was going, i was rudely interupted by the fat office clerk. she demanded to see our ticket. she suspected that some of us were eating without paying cos there were unusually many of us seated at one table. i was pretty pissed at her lar. this kind of dinner, free also nobody want to eat lar, still can accuse us of eating without paying. see lar, my sch ah, nv ever takes our feedback seriously. every year when we have our feedback session, my class nv fails to suggest that the office clerks be sent for some courses to improve their extremely poor social skills and their lack of a heart for service. you know those bells they put on reception counters, for you to ring if you need help. we always ring those bells. then always get scolded lar. said that we were disturbing them. wth, don't want us to ring the bell then don't put the bell there lar. as seen from just now, they clearly have not been going for their courses. anyw, there was a mini concert kinda thing during dinner. nothing good about it either, one of the mc stutters even!

ya so anyw, i took lots of pictures as proof. will upload them another day for all to see. to round up everything i said, the dinner basically, was horrible times ten to the infinity(afzal tuition joke). the only good part was that i got to meet up with my ex classmates. yeah catching up was great. :) should do it more often, just not at $50. and definitely not in the parade square.
